The Soldier

IF I should die, think only this of me;

1939-1945

• Major John Holdsworth, M.C., 117672, 2nd Bn., Kings Royal Rifle Corps. 9 March 1920 - 2 March 1945.
  Killed on active service at Üdem, on the border between Holland and Germany, aged 24.
• Lieut. Michael Holdsworth, H.M.S. St. Angelo., Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve, Fleet Air Arm. 10 February 1921 - 24 February 1942.
  Killed on active service off Tobruk whilst based at Malta, which was then under heavy siege when a pilot of 'Swordfish' biplane, aged 21.
• L/Bombardier Harry Falkingham 1466305, 68th Anti-Tank Regiment Royal Artillery.
  Killed on active service aged 31, 17 July 1944.
  Harry Falkingham, who lived in Siddal, was killed along with six others in one incident.

    "We Will Remember Them"
The United Kingdom has seen the revival of widespread public observance each 11 November of Two Minutes' Silence in remembrance of those who lost their lives in the service of their country. The UK population voluntarily and informally observe Two Minutes' Silence, pausing from whatever they are doing, wherever they happen to be.
You are invited to observe a Two Minute Silence at 11 am local time on 11 November annually, in memory of and as a tribute to soldiers, sailors and air men and women and other casualties of war.
