Swotting up their French are Lucy Drury, 16; James Holdsworth, 16; and Jennie Hanson, 17 |
Sixth-form pupils of Hipperholme Grammar School travelled to France to sample work experience.
They are studying A-level French and spent their half-term holiday working in Reims on placements organised by "Acorn Educational Exchanges" whose staff accompanied them.
James Holdsworth, 16, of Heath Lane, Halifax, worked in the kitchens of a restaurant.
"Everyone was friendly and spoke slowly for me to understand. They always spoke in French and by the end of the week I felt I had learned a lot" he said.
Lucy Drury, 16, of Ackroydon, Halifax, worked in a restaurant/bar, and Jennie Hanson, 17, of Skircoat Green, Halifax, worked in a perfumery and a comic book store.
French teacher Mrs Christine Crossan said it had been a successful project for the trio.
"All would recommend this experience to future A-level French students hoping for a taste of French life as part of their studies", she said.
